Fun With Skates!

So today I had the pleasure of watching something I had never seen before. A roller derby bout. It was put on by the Chattanooga Roller Girls and I have to say, it was amazing. I did not know what to expect as I entered the Chattanooga Trade Center, and I was really surprised at how much fun I had watching these women compete at a sport I can now say is completely underrated. Chattanooga Roller Derby Girls Are…On a Roll…at the North Chattanooga Recreation Center!

The team was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the North Chattanooga Recreation Center last Thursday and Rhonda Seeber was on hand to take pictures and document the occasion for “Good ‘Community News’ from the City’s Recreation Centers”. We were so surprised by this honor! Especially since we feel like THEY should be the ones honored. Not only for letting us practice in their gymnasium but for the many ways they give back to our community! We are so thankful for the North Chattanooga Recreation Center!

Following is the write up they gave the occasion in the publication:

Not only do the members of the Chattanooga Roller Derby Girls hold their weekly practices at the North Chattanooga Recreation Center, the group helps the recreation center staff with youth programs and activities that benefit the North Chattanooga and Hill City communities. Facility Manager Evelyn Snorton says, “we are truly grateful and wanted to thank them for becoming a part of this community. Their generous support and donations have included after school snacks, games, and mentoring time!”
